(Response) Seth's Blog: The complaining customer doesn't want a refund

I'd like everyone to take a look at the following article because I find it of great interest to our business when handling customer complaints.

Moving is a stressful for everyone, in fact, it's definitely in the top 3 most stressful points in any persons life-- especially when a homeowner has multiple closings occuring at once. I find that the slightest problem or error, although it may be menial and not the end of the world, can in fact be the end of the world for most in this situation.

So, although many things are out of our hands... traffic, logistical hurdles, ample time, misunderstandings, miscommunication, accidents, surprises, delays... there are things we can do to help ease our customers...

There is great benefit to being such a small family based business... we can easily change our course of direction and make necessary changes to keep our customers happy, and according to this article; refunds and discounts are not the answer...

Just a thought for today.

Duxbury to Duxbury, MA Move 5/24

On Friday, May 24th, five movers arrived at the Casey Movers office at 6:00 in the morning. They were scheduled to move a couple out of their 4 bedroom home in Duxbury (Duxbury Movers) to another house just across town.

The couple, Debbie and Dave, had decided to go with Casey Movers after receiving a call from one of the ladies in our sales department. Later that week, we delivered 20 free moving boxes to the couple as a sign of gratitude for choosing to move with Casey Movers.
The five movers arrived at the customer's home at 8:00 on the dot, right on time.

The Casey Movers' tractor trailer.
The five movers, Matt, Tim, Scott, Danny and Jorge, didn't waste any time getting started. They introduced themselves to the customers, went over the paperwork with them and then began to load up the tractor trailer.
The men split up the responsibilities to save time - while some of the men ran boxes to the truck, others took apart the furniture and bed frames before carefully wrapping each piece with heavy duty moving blankets to keep the pieces spotless.

Tim and Scott...
...working hard!
The movers have a special way of loading a trailer so that all the furniture, boxes and other belongings are secure and protected. They load the larger, heavier items on the floor and stack the smaller items and boxes on top, so nothing is crushed.
Matt loading belongings into the trailer.
The movers brought plastic mattress bags for each of the customer's mattresses. They brought a few bags of each size, covering the customer's king size, full size and 2 twin size mattresses. That way, the mattresses stays nice and clean through out the move.

Once the load up was complete, the movers took Debbie and Dave on a walk through of their old home to make sure everything was in order. After they were completely satisfied, the men hopped into the truck and headed across town to the customer's new home.

The movers arrived at the customer's new house and started unloading the trailer immediately. They were not going to waste any of the customer's time or money!

The movers unloaded each item out of the trailer and into the new house. They were extremely careful when handling the customer's belongings, the men treated it all like they were moving their own home. The men had Debbie and Dave's life in their hands, so taking every measure of safety was a given for these movers.

Once the movers had unloaded every piece of furniture, every box and every belonging into the new house, they started arranging each room just the way the customers requested. The movers arranged and organized the entire house, then took Debbie and Dave on one final walk through to confirm that everything was up to their standards. The couple was thrilled with the move as a whole, they had nothing but good things to say about the movers and the company.

The customers, Debbie and Dave, had wonderful things to say about the movers and the company in the Casey Movers Customer Comments and in the Angie's List Review. Debbie told us that she would definitely use Casey Movers again in the future.

Benefits of Storage Units

If you have moved to different destinations during your life, chances are you have experienced the need to obtain a proper storage unit during your moving process. There are reasons aplenty to rent a unit of that kind, however not all units are the same. The following tips are meant to help you make better choices when the time comes.  We begin with the following tips and guidelines:

·         Using pallets
One of the most essential and important aspects of dealing with storage is to keep your items off the floor of your storage unit. Even though companies take precautions against moisture and water, you should make sure your belongings are properly protected before you can be certain things are nice and secure. Using pallets will help you fix the issue, as it will raise your belongings slightly off the ground.

·         Wrapping
Every time you have to use a unit, you will have to wrap your belongings to prevent any dust from collecting on them as well as other unpleasant occurrences. You should use plastic wrap to seal the more sensitive items, ensuring their safety.

·         Using proper locks
Even though the storage units themselves have good security, you should never underestimate the ability to protect your belongings with better measures. You can find a padlock capable of withstanding weathering and a strong one at that, which resists attempts at opening with a bolt cutter.

·         Labeling is key
Although you may know what you're putting inside your storage unit, you may need to make an inventory list with all the details surrounding them. A few months down the line you may have forgotten what was where and you will need all the help you can get to make things right. Label all boxes by room, contents and whether they are fragile or not. Make sure you keep a written and digital inventory list for your convenience so you will be aware of the exact locations of objects. Following a system of labeling with numbers involved will allow you to control the final result.

·         Planning for changes
Although your country may have stable weather patterns, you might consider securing your belongings against changes in it. Alterations between hot and cold could cause condensation, which in term may cause mold to appear among other things. You should pay special attention to any extra sensitive items such as old photographs, art, electronics and vinyl records as well as anything else capable of being hurt by water damage.

·         Prepare for winter
In many cases outdoor storage units may have frozen areas in front of their doors despite the measures taken by companies against that. You should consider being prepared if you want to take anything out or bring anything in during the season in such cases.

·         Ensure proper stacking
If you have ever played Tetris, then you you know importance of stacking. In the case of storage, you will need to put heavy boxes on the bottom and light ones on top to prevent caving of the breakable items you put in the light ones. Make sure you don't stuff a large box full of heavy things or you will have great difficulties trying to move it.

North Andover to Somerville, MA Move 5/24

On Friday, May 24th, two movers arrived at the Casey Movers office early in the morning. The two men, Brian and Donald, were scheduled to move a customer from her 2 bedroom apartment in North Andover (North Andover Movers) to a new house in Somerville.
The customer, Tracey, heard of Casey Movers from one of her friends. After hearing such good things about the company, she called the Casey Movers office at 1-800-482-8828 to book a move. Tracey received her estimate over the phone and sent in her deposit for the move the same day. Once we collected her deposit, we were able to confirm her move on the date she desired.
The two movers arrived at Tracey's apartment at 9:00 in the morning, right on time. They didn't waste any time getting started - they introduced themselves to the customer, went over the paperwork with her and then began to load up the truck.

The movers, Brian and Donald, wrapped up each piece of furniture before loading it into the truck. They used heavy duty moving blankets and pads to keep the furniture in pristine condition during the move. Then they organized the items in the truck so they would be secure while driving to the customer's new house in Somerville.
For Tracey's full size and two twin size mattresses, the movers brought plastic mattress bags. They fit each mattress in it's own bag then sealed it shut with many layers of tape, protecting it from any kind of dirt or filth while being moved. They added another layer of pads on top for extra protection.

After the truck was loaded up with all of the customer's belongings, the movers hopped back in the truck and headed to the customer's new house in Somerville.
Once they arrived, they got right to work. Brian and Donald unloaded every item into the house, then began to move each piece into the room that the customer requested. The movers even arranged the furniture in each room to the customer's liking.

After everything was in order and the customer, Tracey, was completely satisfied, the move was complete. Brian and Donald gathered the moving blankets to fold and pile back into the truck and collected all their tools.

While they were packing up their things, the customer was filling out the Casey Movers Customer Comments and the Angie's List Review. She had excellent things to say about both the movers and the company. It was another move well done!

Hanover to Scituate, MA Move 5/23

On Thursday, May 23rd, four movers arrived at the Casey Movers office early in the morning. They were scheduled to move a couple, Steve and Diane, to their new home in Scituate, MA (Scituate Movers). Casey Movers had already loaded up the customer's home in Hanover (Hanover Movers) on a previous day, and had held it in the trailer until the couple was ready to move into their new house.

Steve and Diane had first heard of Casey Movers from a postcard they received from our company in the mail. The couple's realtor, Michelle Lanyard from William Raveis Realty, had good things to say about Casey Movers as well.

The four movers drove the already loaded truck out to Scituate, arriving right on time. They didn't waste any time getting started - they introduced themselves to the customers, went over the second part of the paperwork and then started unloading.

The Casey Movers truck in front of the customer's house.
The customer's driveway was long and narrow, so the tractor trailer could not fit. The movers knew this in advance from the estimator, so they brought a smaller truck to shuttle all the belongings and furniture up the driveway to the new house.
The four movers worked as a team to load up the smaller truck, drive it up the driveway, unload the truck and then do it again and again in a reasonable amount of time. Each item in the truck was wrapped in heavy duty moving blankets, so everything arrived safe and sound.

The four movers, Matt, Tim, Scott and Jorge, worked non-stop until the entire trailer was empty. Once every item was inside the new home, they started arranging the belongings in each room and organizing everything just the way the customers wanted.

Scott, a happy mover :)
After the movers had completed arranging the customer's home, they took Steve and Diane for a final walk through to make sure everything was in order. The couple had no complaints and were completely satisfied.
The four movers geared up to leave once they got the okay from the customers. They packed up all their tools and gathered up all the moving blankets and pads to fold and stack back up in the truck.

The customers, Steve and Diane, had excellent things to say about the four movers and the company. In the Casey Movers Customer Comments, they wrote "They were very personable and accommodating at the same time. We would recommend them to others."

Moving to a new place is a lovely experience. A new environment brings new energy, a new set of people and new experiences. Avoid making the move stressful by hiring a very professional moving company who will make sure that you are relieved from that painstaking process. Here are a few simple reasons to hire a professional moving company.

Stress free moving
The very thought of packing the whole of your house can be scary. Especially if you are busy with your work and have children to look after, hiring a moving company will eliminate a lot of the stress off your shoulders. The moving company are professionals who have the perfect knowledge of taking care of all types of items. This includes your kitchenware, heritage items and fragile items, which are dear to you. This will allow you to give attention to your family and cherish the experience of taking them to a new house.

Insured moving
When you hire a professional moving company, they will ensure that any damage caused by them during the process is insured. This will relieve you as you are assured that all your items will reach your new home completely intact. However, if you decide to make a move yourself and end up damaging a few of your valuable items you will have only yourself to blame.

Ease of Unpacking
Moving to a new place can take a toll on your routine if you do not pack all your things in an organized manner. It can take weeks to unpack and find all your important things. While on the contrary the professional services will pack all your items in a perfect way and will make unpacking very simple. You will be able to get back to your routine life without any hassle and all your important items will be in the right places.

Intact valuables
The best part about hiring the professional companies is the fact that all your valuable items will remain intact. All you have to do is to warn them about the specific items. The professionals have had years of experience in moving these items with the utmost care. We always come across stories from friends and relatives of how they just went out with their purse and left everything to the moving company. Even the most difficult items will be moved with ease and you do not have to wrack your brain on how to pack the particular items so that no damage is caused.

Time saving affair
When you live at a place for a long time, you end up bringing a lot of clutter to your house. Moving the same items to a new place can mean that you plan to take a lot of your valuable time. Having professional help by your side, you will not realize when all those items got packed and moved safely to your new house.

Hiring professional services to move to your new house is like an investment that you owe to yourself. Taking so much of the burden all alone isn’t worth it if you are going to end up damaging some of your valuable items, taking random leaves at work and most of all to lose your peace of mind. Moving to a new home should bring happiness to you and your family so let the hired removals company take away that stress of moving whilst you enjoy being at a new place.

On Thursday, May 23th, two movers arrived at the Casey Movers office at 6:30 in the morning. The two men, Donald and Ronnie, were scheduled to move a couple from their 3 bedroom house in Needham to another house just across town.

The couple, Crystal and David, have used Casey Movers before. So when they decided to move again, they didn't have any doubt in their mind who they wanted to hire for the job.

The two movers arrived at the customer's Needham home right on time. They didn't waste any time getting started - they introduced themselves to the customers, ran through the paperwork and then began loading up the truck.

The two movers came ready to work. They took out all the heavy duty moving blankets and pads, and started wrapping up each piece of furniture so it all would stay in great condition during the move. As a team, they were able to carry each item to the truck with ease.

Milford, MA to Palm Coast, FL Move 5/22

On Wednesday, May 22nd, two movers arrived at the Casey Movers office early in the morning. They were scheduled to load up a customer's 2 bedroom home in Milford, MA and have the tractor trailer ready to be driven to a town called Palm Coast in the state of Florida.

The customers, Dave and Rosemary, found out about Casey Movers from the Yellow Pages. After calling our office at 1-800-482-8828, the couple learned that Casey Movers performs out of state moves on a regular basis. We have moved people all over the United States - from Massachusetts to California, Washington, Florida and numerous other states.

The two movers, Jorge and Kevin, arrived at the customer's Milford home right on time. They arrived in the Casey Movers uniform- navy blue collared shirts with black pants, looking very professional. The two movers began right away, they introduced themselves to the customers, went over the paperwork with them and then began to load up the trailer.

Jorge in his uniform, working hard.
Since the customer's load was being driven all the way down to Florida, the movers took extra precaution when loading up the furniture and the rest of the belongings. The men wrapped each piece of furniture with heavy duty moving blankets and pads, and even added another layer of shrink wrap or even cardboard from boxes for extra protection.

The two movers also brought plastic mattress bags from the Casey Movers office for the customer's two queen size mattresses. With a mattress bag, the bed stays nice and clean from all the elements during the move.

The inside of the trailer, halfway loaded!
The two movers packed up the truck nice and neat, to the standards of the company and the customers. Since the load gets packed tightly, nothing moves around or slides out of place during the drive down to Florida, so the customer's load arrives in pristine condition. That way the move continues smoothly and everyone is happy!

The movers took a "household goods descriptive inventory" while they were loading each item into the truck. Writing an inventory helps the customer in addition to the company because it keeps a detailed description of each item so everything can be accounted for. The movers added every belonging to the inventory list, from a bicycle to the entertainment center to the customer's office chairs. After the inventory was complete, the movers had Dave and Rosemary read it over to make sure they agreed to the information stated before signing it, making it a valid document.

The two movers, Jorge and Kevin, worked vigorously the whole day, and showed excellent teamwork during the job making Dave and Rosemary very happy customers.

When the tractor trailer was all loaded up and ready to go, Jorge and Kevin took the customers on one last walk through of their Milford home just to be certain that all the items that were going to Florida were already in the trailer. The customers felt that everything was in order and the load up was complete.

The customers, Dave and Rosemary, told Casey Movers that the movers were so great, plus gave the company an A rating for the move overall! In the Angie's List Review, the couple said they would definitely use Casey Movers again in the future.
