Post-Move Decorating

Moving to a new home means dealing with a lot of details. You will need to do much, such as unpacking your belongings, setting up your furniture and arranging everything in its proper order. Regardless of what you do however, you will still need to adapt to living in a completely new place, so making it more familiar or cozy should be a top priority if you want things to go smooth.

There is hardly an easier way to do this, except by properly decorating the walls and interior of your home. Decorating must be done when you have a new home unless you want your new place to resemble a hospital or a warehouse. Decoration is something personal, so your ideas are what will literally shape the future of your home and your life ahead of you. Before you begin, you should consider making a careful plan for how each room should look like. Writing down and sketching out how you want things to look will help you greatly as you get to the execution of said decorations. After all, you don't want your place to look mediocre and boring.

Consider the priorities of certain rooms and how you want them handled overall. While some rooms will bear more significance than others, you should focus on those that are visited more often than others. The living room will most likely be your first choice, seconded by your bedroom and so on. Working a room at a time will allow you to focus and keep things easy to handle.

Consider what necessities you'll need when you are done moving. Much of the possessions from your old home will find their way into your new one, however you will also need to downsize and abandon some of them. Look for a way to combine new purchases with the style of any old items you own to create a synthesis of styles that works to your benefit.

Decoration should be done after you are done setting up of course, but before you deal with that you might consider repainting or reapplying wallpapers to the walls if the need arises. Arrange your furniture in a way that fits your needs, then decide where you want to setup the decoration pieces. The best way to go about this is to tie up the looks of the furniture with the proper accessories. These can be pretty much anything, ranging from picture displays, books, curtains, vases and a whole other variety of items. The main point of this part of the decoration process is finding the right combination of items that creates the best possible visual effect. Does the room feel cozy, or does it feel boring and dull? It all comes down to this and the practicality of the whole decoration deal, making sure you'll find it easy to clean them months down the line when the need arises.

Working on a budget is a necessity, as some of the decorations might be a bit steep if we're not careful. The fact that these will occur after a move means you will have expended a decent amount of money getting to your new home, thus you will need to address that issue. If you are not quite certain how you want to approach the decoration of your home, try to find inspiration in the wide variety of different styles around the world, conveyed by magazines, websites and more for a combination which works best for you.

Milton to Wareham, MA Move 4/25

On Thursday, April 25th, two men arrived at the Casey Movers office early in the morning. The two movers, Donald and Danny, were moving a customer out of her house in Milton, MA and to two separate locations, one in Wareham and the other in Norwell.

The customer, Gale, first heard of Casey Movers when she received one of our postcards. When selling her house, she used Gail Nocera from Coldwell Banker as a realtor.

Donald and Danny left the office at 7:30 AM on the dot, and arrived in Milton 30 minutes later. They wasted no time getting started. They introduced themselves to the customer, went over the paperwork with her, and then began to load up the truck. The customer told us later on that she thought the 2 men "arrived promptly, very professional and courteous."

The Casey Movers truck, ready to be loaded!
The two movers took extreme precaution went loading up the customer's furniture - they wrapped it all in plenty of heavy duty blankets and put another layer of shrink wrap on just to be safe. These movers never cut corners.

The customer, Gale, was also taking her grandfather clock to her new house. The men made sure it would be perfectly safe through out the move. They used heavy duty blankets, shrink wrap an even some cardboard. The customer was very pleased with how the two movers handled her belongings.

Once the movers were finished loading up the customer's items, they hopped right back into the truck and drove to Wareham, where most of  Gale's things were going.

Donald unloading the truck at the new house.

The men unloaded the truck quickly but carefully, because they still needed to make one more stop in Norwell, MA before the move was done. The pressure was on to finish in that amount of time they had!

But Donald and Danny, being from Casey Movers, finished just in time. They made sure everything was perfect for the customer before the move was complete. They arranged the furniture just the way the customer wanted it in both Wareham and Norwell. The customer couldn't be happier with how the move went. The customer, Gale, wrote excellent things in both the Angie's List Review and in the Casey Movers Customer Comments.

Cohasset to Cohasset, MA Move 4/23

On a rainy Tuesday, April 23rd, five movers waited patiently inside of the Casey Movers office while the crew leader got all of the paperwork together for the move. Once the tractor trailer was all warmed up in the parking lot, the men jumped in and headed straight for Cohasset.

The 5 men were moving a couple, Tom and Sue Ellen, from their four story home in Cohasset to another house about 15 minutes down the street. They first heard of Casey Movers from a former client plus a family friend. The couple used John Durkin from Coldwell Banker as their realtor to sell their old home.

Once the 5 movers arrived at the customer's home, they got started right away. They introduced themselves to the customers, went over the paperwork with them and then started loading up the truck. They didn't want to waste any of the customer's time.

The movers, Matt, Tim, Jorge F, Jorge M and Dave, had to work quickly but carefully because they had to move everything in the large house in a short amount of time. They used plenty of heavy duty moving blankets to cover every single piece of furniture to keep it all in pristine condition. The movers also brought mattress bags to cover the customers 3 twin beds, 5 full beds, and one queen size bed, so the mattresses would stay nice and clean through out the move. They brought plenty of other supplies to make sure everything in the house would stay in excellent condition during the move.

The customers also owned a pool table, which takes a professional to take apart. Luckily, one of the movers that was on the job knew how to take it apart. Casey Movers always comes prepared. : )

Once the movers were done loading up, they immediatly got back into the trailer and drove across town to the customer's new home. They started unloading right away.

Success!

The movers from Casey Movers are wonderful at working as a team. In pairs, they carried all the heavy furniture into the house. They arranged it just the way the customer asked for. The men worked hard into the evening to get the trailer unloaded. When the move was complete, Tom and Sue Ellen were very pleased with the outcome. The couple had no complaints.

On Wednesday, April 17th, three movers arrived at the Casey Movers office at the break of dawn to get ready for a move out in Quincy, MA. They were moving a customer, Kimberly, from her 2 bedroom apartment in Quincy to her new house in Braintree, MA.

The 3 movers, Matt, Tim and Jorge, arrived at Kimberly's apartment in Quincy ten minutes before 8:00 AM, right on schedule. They wasted no time getting started.

Loading up at the customer's apartment.
Once the movers arrived in Quincy, they introduced themselves to the customer, went over the paperwork and started loading up the truck. They ran boxes out to the truck, and wrapped each piece of furniture with our heavy duty moving blankets to keep them in good condition. Then they wrapped the customer's mattress with a plastic mattress bag to keep it nice and clean in the truck. They also brought a wardrobe box which had a metal bar across the top so the customer can hang up all her clothes.

Kimberly was very happy with how the movers worked.
She said the movers were "efficient and speedy."

Once the load up was complete, they packed up their gear and drove straight to the customer's new home in Braintree. They started unloading her belongings right away.

They brought all the furniture into the home and arranged it just the way the customer wanted it. This house was easier to unload since they could back right up the front door instead of the customer's last apartment when they had to load everything from the second floor. But the movers still performed the move in record time.

Lincoln to Rockland Storage ( Load ) 4/10

On Wednesday, April 10th, 4 movers arrived at the Casey Movers office at 6 AM. They were returning to Lincoln, MA to load up a customer's home, which we had packed the 2 previous days. The customer, DeeDee, will keep her belongings in Casey Mover's storage facility for 2 months before she moves all the way to Michigan. DeeDee used Tom and Joanne from Sotheby's Real Estate as her realtors for the move.

The customer's home in Lincoln, MA.
The movers arrived at the customer's Lincoln, MA home about an hour later, right on time. The 4 movers, Donald, Matt, Tim and Kevin worked very carefully when loading DeeDee's belongings into the truck so that it would stay in the same nice condition.

A well protected piece of furniture.

A shrink wrapped couch.
For every piece of furniture, the movers would either shrink wrap a few layers around it or wrap a thick moving blanket around it with a box around that as another layer for security. They made sure everything was very well protected so that it would all stay in pristine condition during the move and while in storage.

The customer's safe (around a thousand pounds).
The movers had to move the customer's safe as well, which weighed close to a thousand pounds. Two other companies had already turned the offer down to move the item (another moving company and a vending machine company) because of it's liability, but together, the 4 movers were able to lift it and carry it to the trailer. What strong men we have at Casey Movers! : )

The movers: Kevin, Matt, Tim and Donald.
The 4 movers worked well into the evening to finish loading up the customer's large home. By the end of the move, the customer was very pleased. She had excellent things to say about the men in the Casey Movers Customer Comments.

Lincoln to Rockland Storage ( Pack Job ) 4/8

On Tuesday, April 9th, 3 movers loaded up the Casey Mover's purple mini-van for a pack job. They packed up the van with every size box imaginable, rolls and rolls of tape, a bunch of bundles of packing paper and jumbo sharpies to mark each box.

The customer, DeeDee, is moving from her home in Lincoln, MA to her new home in Michigan. Before the move to Michigan, we will hold her belongings in storage for 2 months until she is ready to go.

The three movers, Matt, Tim and Scott, arrived at DeeDee's 5 bedroom home at 8:30 AM, right on time. They began packing right away.

The couch wrapped in shrink wrap, to keep it in great condition.
The movers used heavy duty moving blankets and shrink wrap around each piece of furniture to keep them in pristine condition during the move. For each of the customer's pictures, the movers fold boxes in half and tape the bottom shut before sticking the picture inside and taping the top shut. That way the picture will be very well protected.

A packed picture w/ frame, well protected.

The customer's most prized possession is her chandelier, and she wanted the movers to keep that in perfect condition, or she was not going to be a happy customer. The movers took each crystal off, one by one, and wrapped it in packing paper to keep it safe from damage. Then, they stuck each crystal in separate zip lock bags for organization. Then they wrapped each of the lights with shrink wrap. The movers never cut corners.

The chandelier: before.

The chandelier, ready for moving.

The customer was very happy with the work the movers, Matt, Tim and Scott, had done. The next day, on April 9th, the movers would return for the completion of the pack job of DeeDee's Lincoln home. Much of the worry that she had was gone after she saw the work that the Casey Mover's men do.
